deep waters

8.05.2021

Hey paper peeps! When I decided to start a stamp subscription, I wanted to have some stamps for memory keeping of course, but I also wanted to start incorporating my faith into some projects too! Hence where I came up with the Happy Little Faith Stamp Subscription! I love that there's 2 separate ones to pick from, or you can pick both and it's still super affordable!

I really love when you just "happen to stumble on" (wink wink) a verse that goes so perfectly with the storm or trial you are facing! That's how I came about with the August Faith Stamp verse, "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you!" ~Isaiah 43:2. Life has been super hard lately and it's going to get even trickier... I'm about to make a big life change and it's super scary! Well one day I opened up to this verse and was like oh yeah. Thank you Lord I needed this!

I just love scraping texture paste over stencils ohmygoodness it's so much fun! These little stars are one of my faves to play with, and they fit so perfectly with this old sheet music paper :)

Look how fun these curly Q waves are! I think I used 3 different blue Tim Holtz Oxide Inks for them, then just dabbed a little white gesso over top of them to soften them up a bit!

I am having so much fun creating a faith art journal with the Happy Little Faith Stamps! I love just adding layers and layers of messy-ness and paint and paper and ink until I'm totally happy with it!

I can't wait to get more pages in it done, I know it will be one of my favorite things! It's kinda funny because I'll be able to look at each layout and know exactly what I was going through at that point! Kind of a faith journey :) If you want to play along and start your own journal with your Happy Little Faith Stamps, please make sure you tag me so I can see your amazing art work! #sbhappylittlefaithartjournal @sarahbargo

4.30.2021

Hey paper peeps! This is the last sneaky peeky of my brand new happy little stamps before making their big debut tomorrow eeekkk!! I am so super excited! And nervous.. hope you like them!

I have been working on a mini album for my mom, it's made out of a vintage book that I picked up in an antique store! She's a quilter, so when I saw an old beautiful book called "The Patchwork Quilt," you know it accidentally fell into my cart heh heh...

It's about all of our hobbies, scrapbook adventures, expos, crafting parties, hoarding of pretty things, trips to bakeries, all of those good things! Who would've thought that our hobbies would turn into lifestyles, which would in turn result in crazy adventures?!

Can't wait to show more of this book to you! It's getting quite chunky :)

I love putting paint chips in my junky artsy fartsy journals, they are so perfect for journaling and layering! It's a happy bonus when you find one with cute paint names on it!

I added a messy & quick layer of gesso on the base book page and large shipping tag before creating the page, I just love how gesso softens everything and makes it so subtle and pretty!

Do you have special plans for International Scrapbook Day?! I love this day! So much fun going on all over social media, it's so exciting!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Come back tomorrow at 7p.m. to subscribe to some really cute stamps!

xoxo Sarah

be happy

4.26.2021

Hey paper peeps! Just hoppin on to share a simple little layout I whipped out the other day! Do you ever see a piece of patterned paper that you just have to do something with?! That's how I felt about this cute paper by Heidi Swapp in her new Carefree Collection! I just love it! Cactus' are just the happiest things! Plus now that half of my family lives in the wild west, I get to utilize all the cute things with these happy guys! I swear when you're driving past them it looks like they're all out there waving at you lol!

I love this "be happy" stamp by Close To Your Heart! My sweet friend Erica sells it in her CTMH shop! I used the fab "Evergreen" ink pad with it, green is a top fave color of mine other than light pink (lots of heart eyes)!!

I think hanging things off of tags is so cute on projects! This LOVE circle charm is also from Heidi's Carefree collection, I dabbed some pink paint on there to make it feel artsy fartsy :)

My mom and I have this ongoing joke that we're always sitting or standing the same way, we just look over at each other and laugh and say STOP IT!!

As you can see my typewriter hates me and likes to do crazy things sometimes when I'm journaling, but I don't care I love it! I use it on almost everything! I have to remember to put my handwriting on things  too though because that's important :) I cherish all of my cards and envelopes that relatives & family members sent me when I was little, simply because it has their handwriting on them. Makes me feel like I'm holding a piece of them with me.

This cute chipboard piece that says love love love is by Freckled Fawn! They have lots of cute embellishments to play with!

I'm so proud of myself for making a 12x12 layout! That hasn't happened in awhile yikes! What is your favorite size layout to make?

Thank you so much for stopping by!

xoxo Sarah

memories- to go!

5.18.2020

Hey paper peeps! How are you, hangin in? doin ok? Life is super crazy right now yikes! Times like these are when I'm so thankful to have a hobby! I love to just decompress and stick my nose in some pretty paper!
I wanted to share something I put in my shop yesterday, they're called "Memories To Go" kits and they are so fun! There are 4 different colors, mint green, pink, gray, and a gorgeous browny taupe color!
This is what the mint green kit looks like, a darling floral cup and some basic foundation pieces that you can use to make an adorable project!
This is what I did with mine, I created a darling little mini album!

I put the book plate from the kit on the cover, then layered it over a piece of vintage dictionary paper and under some pretty things I found on my desk!

I took seam binding and hot glued it to the inside to create a closure bow!

This thing is so chunky and cute I just love all the layers inside!

Here's the back upside down view :)

There is a pretty piece of pink shiny tulle in the kit, I stuck it in between 2 pieces of paper so it's just another pretty layer in there!

I took some pieces of patterned paper and stacked them on top of each other, then stapled the spine. Then I just double taped them to the inside back cover! That made it into a cute little book!

I just love little word snippets...

I had this cute little piece of hummingbird paper, so I taped down along the edge and stuck my tag in there, it stays!

joy journey circle journal

4.28.2020

Hey paper peeps! Today I wanted to share something fun I just conjured up! I created a "joy journey journal" to pass around to my friends in the mail, and then have each of them fill out a spot inside it with some encouragement! Maybe a favorite Bible verse or an inspiring quote? Then by the end I'll have a big ole chunky book of happiness to look thru!
Here is a look at the inside, I used a Tim Holtz folio as the shell! I mixed white gesso and light blush paint together and applied it to the inside using a makeup sponge to lighten up the pattern on the inside. Then took this gorgeous floral stamp set by Illustrated Faith and stamped once in each corner!

Lots of lovely layers created out of the 49 and Market Collage Stacks! They were so fun to alter!

The watercolor splashes you see were made with Tim Holtz Oxide Ink refills in the colors of Spun Sugar and Tattered Rose! I did that technique to some of the papers and then ran them through my WRMK typewriter! I just love that look of typed words, it just gives such a cute nostalgic feel to the project!

I also included some stamping, the black ink was a little bold for me so after the ink was dry, I just blotted it gently with some white gesso and it softened it..

To add some pretty details I topped some of the papers with some gorgeous washi tape like this floral  one here by Heidi Swapp!

Vellum butterflies are the perfect touch if you want to add a little dreamy-ness :)

I love these colors together, they are just so pretty and dreamy! I love all the verses I put in here so far, there are a few more that I'd like to add so I'll keep updating as I go!

Thanks for stoppin by today, stay well and happy and get scrappy!

garden art journal

4.16.2020

Hey paper peeps! I started creating an artsy fartsy art journal dedicated just for gardening! I love gardens so much, they are the most peaceful & beautiful places! To have a special little keepsake to keep all kinds of flowery goodness in makes me all sorts of happy!

I used an old vintage hard cover book, and just tore a bunch of pages out to make room for new messy ones! ;)

I used a mix of vintage garden paper and new ephemera pieces to create a little collage area on the cover, then topped it off with a chippy painted book plate and some chipboard pieces!

I hung this beautiful charm off the binding with yarn, they were in my shop but are all sold out now! I may be putting more up soon!

I love mixing different sized letters, it adds a cute handmade eclectic feel!

Here's a couple pages I put in, I used a beautiful bloom cutfile by Just Nick Studio!
The floral hummingbird paper is by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper, isn't it so pretty?!

Do you have a garden art journal? I can't wait to get this thing "dirty!"
Thanks so much for stopping by!

fine little day

3.25.2019

Hey paper peeps! Have you jumped on the travelers notebook crazy train? Ohhh they are the cahutest little things when you make a mini album out of them! By the time you get just a few spreads done inside, they are these super chunky little books of happiness! I have just a general one in the works, filled with random memories that make me smile, and this is my most recent entry;

These books are also really handy when you have some pretty pieces lying around your workspace that you need to use up, or if you have a random picture that you want to use but don't want to create a large layout for it or whatevs ;) perfect for pretty paper scraps too!

So Shimmerz Paints has these fabulous new kits available now on their website, and this one had an exclusive cut file to go along with it! It was a large floral heart but I cut it apart of course (because I can't do anything normal lol).. what can I say some things are just begging to be fussy cut...

I placed the flower on a simple watercolor background that I created with Shimmerz Creameez Piggy Pink paint! I was worried that the paper would crinkle too much, but I slapped down a clear gesso layer first and let it dry, but the paper took it like a champ!

So definitely give these little notebooks a try, they are so fun I know you'll love them!

Have a beautiful day!

you make me happy

3.24.2019

Hey there! Are you having a scrappy Sunday?! Just wanted to pop in to share this simple little layout with you ;) What is your favorite size layout to make? This is an 8.5x11 and I forgot how much fun they are! Omgosh this is an old pic but it makes me so happy! That little happy face...

This is one of the charms from the new Maggie Holmes line "Sunny Days," I tied it around the bottom of the layout with bakers twine, just a simple little detail on the bottom. ;)

I found this cut file just laying on my desk in a pile of pretty things, so I gave it a watercolor bath in Shimmerz Paints "Luck of the Irish," It's so pretty! Love this color!

This happy sticker is an old Dear Lizzy one, I have a whole drawer of her stuff that I need to stop hoarding lol! But it is kinda fun going through your stash, it's like shopping for it all over again heh heh!

I hope you find some time today to make something pretty!  Have a lovely day!
